Cut stone pieces are placed in a tumbling machine with abrasive media or other stone pieces.
As the material moves, repeated contact gradually abrades the surfaces and rounds the edges.
The degree of distressing depends on the duration of treatment, abrasive media, and stone characteristics.
The process is generally more suitable for smaller pieces than large architectural components.
